From today the preliminary programme of the 6th International Geothermal Conference (IGC 2010) is online available.

Press Release from 02/11/10 - 18:22 h: The Conference will take place in Freiburg/Germany on May 19-20, 2010 and will offer wide insight into different aspects on geothermal energy generation. Early bird special is available until February 28.

(Freiburg, 11 February 2010) From today the preliminary programme of the 6th International Geothermal Conference (IGC 2010) is online. The Conference starts at 9 am with the Short Course "Exploitation of geothermal reservoirs" in co-operation with experts from the Drilling School Celle on May 19. The Short Course gives an overview of relevant requirements and steps related to geothermal drilling. The afternoon offers four different workshops. Apart from an overview of international geothermal projects in Workshop I, Workshop II offers an ideal entrance to local representatives into the topic of geothermal. In Workshop III the focus is on the technical components of a geothermal power plant and the optimization possibilities of cycle processes. The enterprise Schlumberger uses the framework of the IGC 2010, in order to inform in its own Workshop about optimized reservoir investigation by Petrel and ECLIPSE.

After introductory keynotes on market development and perspectives of geothermal the Congress Day on May 20 provides four discussion panels with a podium of four to five experts. Topics of the panels are: risk mitigation strategies, seismicity in geothermal systems, challenges for financing and geothermal power plants in service. On May 21, field trips to geothermal power plants in Landau and Soultz-sous-foręt complete the programme.

Thanks to its international orientation and simultaneous German-English interpretations, the Conference offers a perfect setting to discuss international deep geothermal challenges and pushes forward the development of a renewable energy technology which has a promising future. Once again the IGC will be the geothermal networking and exchanging platform for more than 200 international participants.

The agency Enerchange is the organiser of the International Geothermal Conference. Since 2008 the economic development and marketing company of Freiburg, the Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co.KG (FWTM) is co-organiser. The IGC 2010 is supported (amongst others) by the Geothermischen Vereinigung e.V. – German Geothermal Association. Co-operation partners are the Wirtschaftsforum Geothermie and the International Geothermal Association (IGA).
