WESSO AG restores water wells for the municipality in Medina

WESSO AG was called to Medina, KSA, by the municipality as some of their wells had lost performance over time. Stefan Kimmel, CEO of WESSO AG, lead the delegation consisting of water experts from Germany and engineers of WESSO’s partner company E.E.E. from Riyadh.
It is a common problem that water wells suffer from a decreasing yield. This so called “well aging” is caused by incrustation of lime scale as well as iron and manganese oxides. Together with organic sediments they clog the filter screen of the well and the surrounding hydrogeology. The ground water can no longer flow into the well so it seems like it runs dry. Restoring the well is traditionally difficult and costly. It requires heavy equipment to disassemble the well pump to get to the blockage. But the major difficulty is to reach the incrustations outside of the well that block the ground water in the surrounding soil. These spots can not be reached mechanically. Any chemical treatment has to be effective but must not harm to environment or the construction materials of the well itself.
WESSOCLEAN AQUA of WESSO AG meets these requirements. It is environmentally safe, fully biodegradable and easy to handle for users. It quickly dissolves all incrustations inside and outside of the well. Thus, the original well yield can be restored within hours without the need to disassemble the well pump or the use of heavy equipment. The municipality of Medina was impressed by the quick success of the well treatment. All regenerated wells had a significant boost in performance, water quality was improved and no side effects of the treatment happened. Especially in a water scarce country like Saudi Arabia, this technology offers a unique solution for a pressing problem.
